[French social security] How to obtain a French social security for European students?

As you may already know, affiliation with the French social security system is mandatory for non-European students. European students can use their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) during their stay in France, but only for studies. If a European student needs to undertake a paid internship or an apprenticeship, they will need to have a French social security number.

Comme vous le savez peut-être déjà, l’affiliation à la sécurité sociale en France est obligatoire pour les étudiants non européens. Les étudiants européens peuvent utiliser leurs cartes européennes d’assurance maladie (CEAM) pendant leur séjour en France, mais seulement pour les études. Si un étudiant européen doit effectuer un stage rémunéré ou un apprentissage, il va falloir qu’il ait un numéro de sécurité sociale en France.
