Overview of the ASEM-DUO Scholarship (Korea)
The ASEM-DUO Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a pair of exchange students participating in a reciprocal exchange between:
One higher education institution in Korea, and
One higher education institution in Europe (such as ESSEC),
regardless of the field of study.
ESSEC Campus Eligibility
ESSEC Cergy: ✅ Yes
ESSEC Singapore: ❌ No
⚠️ Exchanges involving Singapore must be conducted exclusively with one of the three universities accredited by the Singaporean government:
National University of Singapore (NUS)
Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
Singapore Management University (SMU)
? ESSEC Singapore is not eligible under any circumstances.
ESSEC Degree Programs Eligible for State Scholarships
Two ESSEC Group programs award French State-recognized degrees and are therefore eligible to host students benefiting from state scholarships:
Grande École Program
Recognized for 3 years following preparatory classes
ESSEC Global BBA (formerly EPSCI)
Recognized for 4 years
Only Global BBA students at the second cycle level (3rd year of the program) are eligible
Note:
There is no obligation or service commitment imposed by the Singaporean government for the allocation of this scholarship.
The program is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Required Documents (Online Submission Only)
Applications must be submitted exclusively online and include the following documents:
Online application form (online submission only)
Copy of the cooperation agreement (or Memorandum of Understanding) between the paired institutions
OR a declaration of intent to establish a new cooperation agreement
(only one valid document accepted)
Copy of passport of both paired applicants
(National ID card accepted for Korean nationals; citizen card accepted for European applicants)
Academic transcript of both paired applicants
Including grades up to Fall Semester 2018
Motivation letter for each paired applicant

Mandatory Conditions for Eligibility
Due to the unique nature of the program, the exchange project must meet all three of the following conditions:
A cooperation agreement exists between:
a Korean higher education institution, and
a European higher education institution
The Korean host institution selects a Korean national student enrolled at its institution to be sent to the European host institution
This selection must be approved by the European institution
The same European institution selects a European Union citizen student enrolled at its institution to be sent to the Korean institution
This selection must be approved by the Korean institution
Application Checklist & Important Notes
Korean applicants (undergraduate or graduate) must be enrolled in Korean universities or colleges
Applicants meeting condition (1) must find an ASEM European partner institution with an existing cooperation agreement
⚠️ The ASEM-DUO Secretariat does not assist in partner matchingStudents must apply strictly as pairs
TOEIC / TOEFL scores, GPA, and university rankings are NOT required for eligibility
Singapore-Related Clarification (ASEM-DUO Singapore)
The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs receives applications for ASEM-DUO Singapore.
Applications require approval from the following institutions:
National University of Singapore (NUS)
Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
Singapore Management University (SMU)
ASEM-DUO Singapore encourages ASEAN students enrolled in these three universities to participate in reciprocal academic exchanges with partner countries.
