Recognizing that skilled human resources are the driving force behind social progress and sustainable development, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) places human capital development at the heart of its strategy. Since 1983, the IsDB has been implementing scholarship programs of excellence to train the leaders of tomorrow.

A vision: Development through education

As part of its Realigned Strategy 2023-2025, the Bank dedicates an entire pillar to supporting the comprehensive and inclusive development of human capital. The objective is simple: to help member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries address global challenges through capacity building and scientific innovation.

The Different Programs Available

The IsDB offers several pathways tailored to specific development needs:

Program for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC): Launched in 1983, this program is primarily aimed at undergraduate students (Bachelor's level) to help them serve their communities.

Master of Science (MSc) Program: Established in 1998, this program focuses particularly on the 20 Least Developed Countries (LDMCs) to prepare students for graduate studies.

Merit Scholarship Program (MSP): Launched in 1992, this program funds doctoral (PhD) studies and postdoctoral research in applied sciences and high technology to strengthen the research capacity of national institutions.

What the Scholarship Covers (Full Support)

The IsDB program is designed to allow for complete focus on studies. It generally includes:

  • Tuition fees.
  • A monthly living allowance.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Round-trip airfare for international students.

Commitment and Impact

This is not simply financial aid, but a mutual investment. The scholarship is often structured as a "trust fund": graduates are encouraged, once they are established, to contribute to funding new students within their own local community, thus creating a virtuous cycle of development.

How to Apply

The application period typically opens at the end of the year. Interested applicants should be prepared to submit their application through the official portal.
