If you are going through a difficult period, the Crous social services can assess your situation. Emergency aid is available to both scholarship holders and non-scholarship holders.
One-off aid from the Crous
The social services of the Crous examine, among other things, requests for one-off assistance. This aid, which is part of the "specific aid" scheme, can be requested in the event of serious financial difficulties.
The application can be made by scholarship students as well as non-scholarship holders and by students of French nationality as well as international students.
Review of applications
After examining your application, the application for specific aid is examined by the Crous social service, during a commission chaired by the Director of the Crous. The student's file is presented anonymously to the commission.
The preliminary interview or distance exchanges, organised between the applicant for specific aid and a Crous social service assistant, must make it possible to assess the student's overall situation, particularly with regard to his or her university career and the difficulties he or she encounters.
After examining the file, the commission issues an opinion on the allocation or non-allocation of the specific aid and proposes to the director of the Crous the amount of aid likely to be granted. The director of the Crous decides on the amount of aid awarded and notifies the student of the decision.
Emergency aid
If your situation justifies it, the director of the Crous may authorise an advance payment of the one-off aid. You must contact the social service of your Crous to make an appointment with the social service assistant in charge of your sector of study.
This aid is granted only after a social assessment of the student's situation to help students who are actually facing serious financial difficulties
A national phone number
In order to find out more about the aid and the procedures to be carried out, you can call 09 72 59 65 65. This number, open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is at the price of a local call, not surcharged. An advisor will inform you about the support or assistance that can be provided to you and how to apply for it from your Crous.
Request the meal at 1 €
While scholarship holders continue to benefit from this measure, non-scholarship students in precarious situations can also apply for it.
