Enrollment, re-enrollment, diploma, requirements

Modified on Thu, 23 Apr at 2:30 PM

Students who have met the pedagogical requirements (course, professional experience, study or internship abroad, thesis, etc) as per the rules set by the academic program in which they have been enrolled, are likely to be declared graduated by the graduation jury, unless opposed by some extraordinary circumstances.

For example, the graduation jury for Grande Ecole Master's in management is held once a year, mid-July.

For the Global BBA, there are two graduation jurys, one mid-July, one mid-February.

For MS and MSc, the graduation jury is held end January.

Pedagogical requirements to obtain the diploma vary from one program to the other, depending on which program students are enrolled at, Grande Ecole, Global BBA, Advanced Masters, Global MBA, Ph.D, MSc in..., etc.

Therefore students must know clearly in which one of the programs at ESSEC Business School they are enrolled, which courses they attend, the number of courses they pass, the grades they obtain. They also must remember whether or not they have done any internship, in France or abroad, or a study abroad program, whether or not they have passed or failed. In doubt, students must contact the office of academic affairs of their program of enrollment.

As a consequence, graduated students evidently do not need to re-enroll for the following school year.

For example, students enrolled at Grande Ecole, whose diploma will be awarded "sous condition", must meet the pedagogical requirements by 30 September at the latest.

Those students will be informed then whether or not they are graduated.

Conversely, Grande Ecole students who fail to be declared graduated by the graduation jury must re-enroll for the following school year during which they shall try to meet the requirements they failed. They'll be presented to the graduation jury of the following July.

For those who are "diplômés sous condition", since the final graduation decision takes place at the end of September, if they still fail to be declared graduated, those students will have to be re-enrolled early October and pay their enrollment fees.

The same reasoning applies to all programs: students who are not declared graduated must be re-enrolled in order to be presented to the next graduation jury.

Enrollment or re-enrollment is subject to the payment of enrollment fees. See article on that subject. Re-enrolled students benefit from services and resources linked to their student status (course, internship, etc.).

Pedagogical decisions are made by Academic Affairs only : authorization to pursue, repeat year, sabbatical year, exclusion, graduation, etc.

Students may not whatsoever decide on their pedagogical status, their grades, their graduation.

The Office of the Registrar, that covers the administration of all academic programs at ESSEC Business School, handles enrollment as per the students' pedagogical status and applies the invoicing rules. The Office of the Registrar does not intervene in pedagogical decisions made by academic programs.
