All the steps from the CROUS website to ESSEC Social scholarships

Please note that this article is meant for French citizens and/or students living in France for at least two years AND have been part of a French tax household for at least two years.

Description

Among all of their missions, the CROUS are in charge of granting living allowances to students studying in institutions which are part of the French higher education system.

ESSEC cannot evaluate neither your "points de charge", meaning the information used by the CROUS to determine the amount of a grant, nor the amount of the monthly scholarship the CROUS could grant you. To check if you are eligible to the CROUS scholarship, please use this online simulator (in French): https://simulateur.lescrous.fr

Conditions

To claim a CROUS scholarship, one must:

  • Be a French citizen, or has been living in France for at least two years and has been part of a French tax household in France for at least two years,

  • Be in a full-time programme (and undertake no apprenticeship),

  • Be enrolled in a programme that is eligible for CROUS grant holders:

    • Bachelor Act,

    • Bachelor HEPTA,

    • BSc AIDAMS,

    • Global BBA,

    • Grande Ecole,

    • Master in Data Sciences & Business Analytics (DSBA),

    • Master in Finance,

    • Master in Strategy & Management of International Business (SMIB).

To apply for the CROUS scholarship for the first time, a student must be under 28 on January 1st of its first year of enrolment in a higher education establishment.

How to submit my application?

From now until May 31st, prepare and submit your Dossier Social Etudiant (DSE) for the 26/27 academic year!* To do so, click on the following link: messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr

Before you start, we advise you to prepare…

*Files submitted after the 31st May deadline will still be accepted, but the processing time might be longer than usual.

Particular situations:

  • If you are currently in a classe préparatoire, you should submit my DSE application specifying the Grande École among your CROUS vœux so that you are assigned to ESSEC,

  • If you are currently in Terminale, you should submit my DSE application, specifying the Global BBA or the Bachelor Act among your CROUS vœux so that you are assigned to ESSEC,

  • If your programme does not appear in the list above, this means that the programme is not eligible for CROUS grant holders: you will not receive the CROUS living allowance, as ESSEC will not be able to validate your registration to the CROUS.

Step 1

Make sure that ESSEC is part of your six vœux by choosing the right département (95 - Val d’Oise), the right city (Cergy) and the right institution. Information to fill out per programme are detailled in the articles below:

Step 2

After submitting my application, make sure to frequently check the “My Inbox” section on the messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr platform and, if needed, submit the additional documents requested by the CROUS within 15 days.

It takes around two and a half months for additional documents to be processed after their submission. An incomplete application may remain pending until December. If there are any issues, the CROUS administrators can help me about the progress of my application.

Step 3

Download your "avis conditionnel" from the CROUS online platform. Then, starting from May, upload it on your MyRegistrar personal space, in "Administrative process", then "2026-2027 - I upload here my documents".

My ESSEC account statement will subsequently be updated to show a payment due on 16 October for the portion of tuition fees covered by the scholarship. As this is not an automatic process, processing times may vary depending on the time of year.

More information on the update of your ESSEC account statement based on your "avis conditionnel" here: CROUS - My ESSEC account statement reflects My Conditional Notice/My Final Notice

Step 4

As a CROUS scholarship student, you are exempt of the "Contribution de vie étudiante et de campus" tax (CVEC).

However, from June, you still need to provide ESSEC your CVEC attestation. To do so, download the CVEC attestation from the CVEC platform, then upload it on your MyRegistrar personal space, in "Administrative process", then "2026-2027 - I provide here my CVEC details".

Step 5

From August until October 15th, upload your "avis définitif" on your MyRegistrar personal space, in "Administrative process", then "2026-2027 - I upload here my documents".

My "avis définitif" confirms:

As this is not an automatic process, processing times may vary depending on the time of year.

Important: Any rejection issued by the CROUS serves as proof that your application has been fully reviewed. Please upload this document as your "avis définitif" on your MyRegistrar personal space. If there is a change in my financial personal situation, contact the Financial Aid Office to review all possibilities.

Step 6

If you have paid your tuition fees without taking into consideration the amount covered by the partial exemption provided by ESSEC scholarships, you will be reimbursed for the excess amount.

To get your reimbursment, you must enter your IBAN on your MyRegistrar personal space under the ‘Administrative process’ section, then ‘I provide my IBAN for refund/Grant payment’. If no IBAN is provided, this amount will be carried forward to subsequent years.
